Awarding Night 32° Art Award 2017

Only Believe Things That Are Easy to Understand (2017)

A collaboration work with Diodoran.

Various media: Magic bean in sacred box,

Video of magic bean introduction by The Oracle, Video mapping on balloon installation.

A phenomenal discovery of magic bean which sold on online sites starts it all. We see the interesting fact that heirlooms aren’t always in unique and mystical form, as well as the potential of a realist-pragmatic modern society inclined to accept a religious-magical solution to solve problems that are psychological and non-psychological.

By building the narrative evidence as support, we try to simulate the evolution of the human mindset in a socio-cultural way. We believe that, for most of the time, the power of collective opinion, which built into the social system tends to undermine the individual opinion that is inconsistent with the mainstream collective one—as simple as minority lose to the majority.

This installation is our way to re-question: how strong is the structure constructed by narrative evidence, in shaping new opinion as a response to the individual amid collective opinion.

Only Believe Things That Are Easy to Understand is shortlisted as finalist in 32° Art Award 2017.
